Hi all...I recently aquired a mk3 Arctic auto, it is in a bit of a state, dented, faded, bashed about a little and the auto box wouldn't change often... but the interior is mint and it has a black dash rather than that awful grey they all seem to have ( I've had 5 mk3's and they all have had the light grey interior ).
Anyway... I fixed the auto problem by removing that 'quadrant' switch thing on the top of the box and stripping it down and giving the contacts a good clean and have been using it pretty much everyday.
This is what she looked like when i got her...
...and after getting new indicator lenses.
Then because i was bored I painted the inlet...
...and added a bit of chrome edging I had lying around to the grill...
I then decided, because of the lockdown and I had nothing to do, to see if I could fit my astra GTE clocks in, so I removed the plastic front from a set of clocks I had...
Drilled a new hole for the trip switch, and stuck it to my GTE clocks in place of the GTE plastic front...
Did a little rewiring and...
I'm also in the process of fitting these old steel wheels with Opel Kadett hubcaps and putting them on the car, you can see I've drilled the rims to take screws or bolts...
and will fix the caps on that way..
I did try welding 'lugs' on so the caps would fit the proper way, but that failed due to my lack of skills, so I went with the holes, seemed more secure to be fair...It may look a bit 'gash' when it's done and I may not like it, but I won't know until I try
